This is a tricky question but I would go with asking any questions and getting the truthful answer. I see lying as a very bad thing that will later make you feel guilty. As they say lying only leads up to a bigger lie and trouble. If you lie you will probably get stuck in a situation but if you ask any question, you know the person is telling the truth and there is nothing to worry about. For exampe, you might ask your friend, "what do you think of this?", your friend would give an honest answer. But if your friend ask that question, and you think it is bad, but ended lying to say it's good, your friend will never know.
